The overview below outlines the topics each year group will be covering over the course of the academic year.
Relationships and Health education
Relationships and Health education is an important part of PSHRE education and is statutory in maintained primary schools.
At St Agnes, we decided to remove the teaching of sex education from our curriculum. We only teach health and relationships topics to our children.
Some of the more sensitive content such as labelling parts of the body is taught in the spring term and school try to give notice to parents about these upcoming lessons so parents are kept well informed. No children can be withdrawn from PSHRE lessons as they are part of the statutory national curriculum.
As a school community, we are committed to working in partnership with parents and the community we live in, recent parental feedback has indicated that the overwhelming majority of parents continue to be highly supportive of the relationship education programme we teach. If you would like to find out more or discuss any concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch via the school office.
